The Alarm

The legendary Welsh rock band The Alarm returns as The Alarm 2.0, uniting co-founder and bassist Eddie Macdonald, guitarist James Stevenson, and drummer Steve “Smiley” Barnard with new frontman Matt Peach. Formed in tribute to late singer Mike Peters, the new lineup honours the band’s powerful legacy while forging a fresh path forward.

Macdonald, whose basslines and songwriting helped define classics like “Sixty Eight Guns”, steps back into the spotlight after decades away. Stevenson, with a storied career spanning Generation X, Gene Loves Jezebel, The Cult, and earlier incarnations of The Alarm, brings his signature guitar sound. Smiley, known for his work with Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros, The Boomtown Rats, and Robbie Williams, drives the band’s heartbeat with his dynamic drumming.

Taking on lead vocals is Matt Peach, a lifelong fan of The Alarm whose career includes work with Kelsy Karter & The Heroines. With heartfelt songwriting and commanding stage presence, Peach carries the spirit and message of Mike Peters into a new era.

The Alarm 2.0 is more than a reunion—it’s a revitalization of the band’s core ethos of truth, resilience, and connection. In Peters’ memory, the band continues to support the Love Hope Strength Foundation and keep alive the music that inspired generations.

The band’s debut as The Alarm 2.0 takes place December 19, 2025, at The Lexington, London, marking the beginning of a bold new chapter for fans old and new.
